There is a perception that because churches are 'always there' resources are readily available. Some people think that the government pays for the Church of England. This is not the case. Parish churches have to generate their own income. Some have historical resources and some have income from existing activities but all rely on the generosity of those who wish to see the church flourish.
If the Annunciation had its own full-time stipendiary priest it would need around £150k per year to pay all of its bills. The income last year was around £130k. More than half of this came from the parts of the building that are rented out as a nursery and offices. The Annunciation has little investment income.
Looking to the future the parish hopes to increase the number of stipendiary clergy. The building, too is reaching the point when large sums of money ought to be raised to put it into good order.
If you value the Annunciation please give as much as you can. UK tax payers are asked to Gift Aid their donations so that the church can recover the income tax.
Thank you for your generosity.
