Proposals
A welcome area needs to be created at the west end of the Church by furnishing the vestibule (entrance porch) with a welcome table, and a display area which is engaging and welcoming. This would be manned daily either by one of the clergy, the lay pastoral assistant or lay volunteers. In order to be welcoming, the area needs to be sensitively lit with up-lights at the base of the handsome columns together with spot lights in order to enhance the already fine architecture. All the walls in that area will benefit from suitable treatment.
At present, once through the doors to the entrance porch, this area is at best sterile, cold and not a little forbidding.

Glass Inner Enclosure - pending approval
It should be our further aim, to keep the existing fine wooden doors open throughout the day so that passers-by can see immediately into the refurbished and enhanced entrance to the building. However, this would be impossible throughout most of the year. It is intended therefore to erect glass doors inside the wooden doors, so that noise and inclement weather can be kept out even when the wooden doors are open, inviting passers-by to come in.
Sound System - now installed
In an age when we are so much more concerned for people with special needs, it is essential in all buildings in which speech and communication are part of the programme, for there to be a sound system together with a loop. Even for concerts or lectures or meetings of any kind, as well as for services, such a facility in any large building is no longer regarded as an optional extra.
